Adam Mosseri called it "a small thing." It is not.

Instagram now lets brands add any post they are tagged in directly to their main grid. Previously, tagged content lived in a secondary tab most users never scrolled to. Now it sits alongside your primary feed, visible to everyone who lands on your profile.

The practical implication: any customer who tags your brand gives you immediately usable grid content. No rights clearance conversation. No requesting raw files. No re-upload process. One tap and it is on your grid.

For brands running affiliate or UGC programs, this collapses the activation timeline from days to seconds. The question is no longer whether you can get permission to use the content. It is whether you are encouraging enough customers to tag you in the first place.

Three things to do before this week is out:

  1. Audit who is already tagging your brand and identify the strongest content sitting unused in your tagged tab

  2. Add your best existing tagged posts to your grid now, before your competitors think of it

  3. Build a tagging incentive into your affiliate or creator program: commission bumps, a feature rotation, or simple public recognition

Authentic content is the channel. This update makes it free to distribute.
